PROCESS ESSAY: VILLAGE FESTIVAL IN MY HOMETOWN
I was born in Ha Nam , a province in the North of Vietnam . I am always proud of my hometown with hard-working and kind farmers and especially I feel very proud of my village with a lot of traditional festivals taken place during a year . One of the most important festivals in my village is " Village Festival " . " Village Festival" is taken place every 2 years to remind people in the village of the god of the village who built the village . People often call the god of the village as " Thanh Hoang Lang" . This festival is taken place on full-moon day of February . There are three parts in the" Village Festival".
The first part of the festival that children are the most eager is lifting the palaqueen and lion dances . On the day of Village Festival , children often get up early , wearing beautiful clothes . Then they go to the communal house of the village to wait for the palaqueen . About 7 o'clock , all of people in the village gather in two sides of the road to see the palaqueen pass . It is believed that children who go under the palaqueen on this day will have good health and will study very well. At 8 o'clock in the morning the palaqueen starts being raised from the village to the village . The palaqueen is raised by 8 people . Always the old people in the traditional costume go in front of the palaqueen and they both go and spread things like coins, pink candles.. My grandma told me that people who pick the pink candles are very lucky . They often put the candles in front of their children 's bed . It is thought that the light of the pink candle will make their children more intelligent and healthier. Therefore they try to get the pink candles. Lion dances are also followed by the palaqueen. The procession lasts for more than an hour.
After the procession , people in the village : the old, the young and children move to the river in the village quickly to see the next part of the Village Festival called " traditional games". Traditional games is the most interesting part in the Village Festival so villagers always wait for this activity . There are a lot of traditional games taken place in this part such as boat race , tug of war and wrestling... One of the most interesting games in Village Festival is the racing boat . There are 5 teams which presentate for 5 villages to take part in this game. It is very proud of the village to win the competition . Therefore , every village chooses the strongest man to join the boat race competition.In this game , competitors sit on an imperial boat , a boat has the form of a dragon decorated with the different colours . The captains who stand at the head of the boat order their team to sail the boat quickly . As soon as the sound of the drum starts , all team begin sailing as fast as they can. Along two sides of the river viewers are shouting for encouragement for their home team .The louder the sound of yelling and shouting of fans is , the more quickly the competitors sail .People who watch at two sides of the river run after the boat to encourage for their team . The team which sails to the finish the most quickly will be the winner of the game . It is a big pride of the village for the team who gets the first prize . Besides the boat race , the traditional games like tug of war , rice- cooking and wrestling are also seen by most peole in the village. The activities of the traditional games finish at about 1p.m in the afternoon .

When the traditional games finish , villagers gather in front of the communal house yard to eat a traditional meal and to see which teams get prizes in traditional games. From early in the morning, woman in the village prepare necessary materials to cook the meal. Often women in the village who are good at cooking will be chosen to cook for Village festival . About 12 p.m all the food is shown carefully and spectacularly on the tables in the communal house yard . On Village festival day the communal house becomes more crowded.This is a special occasion for people in the village to meet and talk together about their work as well as the harvest . Firstly, the results of the traditional games in the morning are announced by the leader of the village . Most people are awaiting to hear which teams win the first prize . It is the pride for the village that wins the first prize . The winners in the traditional games last year will award the prize for the winners this year.Then people sit on their seats eating the meal. They both eat and talk happily. After the meal ,people gather to hear the women in the village sing folk songs The Village festival lasts untill early in the evening .
Despite the impact of the industrialization , the Village festival is still celebrated as the cultural and traditional beauty of my village . It reminds the young generation of the tradition and originality .

My topic :Categorize food according to its nutritional benefits.
There are a lot of factors that affect to our heath such as the environment around us , our daily eating habits ...However, the most important factor that affects directly to our heath is the food we eat everyday . Food provides us with the necessary nutrients to grow our body and to keep us heathy . Besides , every kind of food contains specific nutrients . Base on nutritional benefits of food, people divide them into three main groups . They are the starchy food ,food providing a lot of vitamins and mineral and the food that contains protein and fats.
The first group is starchy food . Do you know what is starchy food? Starchy food is the food containing a lot of starch such as cereals , rice, corn, potatoes, bread... It is the most important group of food to our heath because starchy food is a good source of energy for our body . The starch in rice , maize and cereals provides a great source of energy for us to work and study all day.Moreover, they are the main source of a range of nutrients in our diets. Starchy food gives us many important nutrients, including fiber, several vitamin B and minerals like iron, magnesium and selenium. The fiber in brown bread , cereals and corn is really useful for the digesty system. It reduces constipation. Because starchy food has much vitamin B , it helps the body release energy and plays a vital role in the function of the nervous system. Vitamin B also aids in the formation of red blood cells and builds tissues.Starchy food is very important to us because of its nutrients and energy it provides us.
Fruit and vegetable is one of the most important groups of food to our health .It consists of all kinds of fresh fruit and green vegetables such as cabbage , carrot, pea, apple, banana...We can not have a good health without eating fruit and vegetables . Fresh fruit and green vegetable are a vital source of vitamins and necessary minerals for our body. For example , vitamin C in a lot of fruit like orange , lemon...is really impotant for our health. It helps us to heal cuts and wounds and especially , it keeps teeth and gum healthy . Not only vitamin C , it also provides us many minerals that are good for us . We should eat more green dark vegetable such as carrots , amaranth... because it contains iron which is good for the blood . Besides fruit and vegetables provides us a great amount of water and fiber .To have a healthy immune system we should eat more fruit and vegetable .Nowadays, obesity is the most popular disease so eating a lot of fruit and vegetable is the best way to reduce your blood cholesterol level and prevent the obesity . Furthermore, the more fruit and vegetable we eat everyday , the less risk of heart diseases we can get . Generally , fruit and vegetable are the natural drug for our body and reduce the risk of heart disease .
The third group of food that is really important to our body is the food that contains protein and fats. The common foods in this group are meat , poultry, fish , dairy food and eggs .The amount of protein and fat in this group of food is very high . Meat is a good source of protein , vitamins and some minerals. Fish is another important source of protein , especially oily fish is particularly rich in omega- 3 fatty acids so the fat in fish is really good for our health. Protein is really nesessary because it help our body to grow and repair itself. Besides we need this group of food as they function as building blocks for bones, muscles, cartilage , skin and blood . Protein and fat are one of three nutrients that provide calories and energy for us to work effectively. In despite of the important nutrients contained in this group, we should not eat too much because they do still contain high levels of fat. Therefore, it is good for our health to eat them in moderation.
In short , Starchy food , fruit and vegetable and the food with protein and fat are the most important groups of food with the differences in nutrients . To have a good health , we should eat a balanced diet of three main groups of food.

Do you agree with me that money always has its power in our life? Money plays an important play in our life. Without money, we can't live a happy life. Therefore, when money looses its cost-it means that the inflation happens, our life will be affected a lot. One of the classes in our society affected the most is students who live far away their family. In the context of the high inflation, students face a lot of difficulties. The high inflation puts them under the pressure of money and the studying of students is also affected a lot. Now, students are finding the best solutions to overcome these difficulties.
Students living far from their house hardly earn money for daily life. Most of them still depend on their parents. Every month, they receive an amount of money from their parents. With that money, they must spend for everything from daily expense, renting an apartment to the expense for studying.Maybe students'life is difficult. However, life is more and more difficult for students because of the impact of high inflation. In the context of high inflation, the problem that most students worry about is that the price of the consumer goods goes up and up while the monthly money their parents support them doesn't rise. Students are becoming worried a lot about money when the price of food goes up twice as much as before. For example, before the high inflation, students just spend about 30 thousands dong for meals everyday. However, with 50 thousands dong everyday for buying food, students can have meals with vegetables and meat now. Comparing with a few years ago. with amount of money of 1 million dong every month , student can live comfortably but it is veru difficult for them to live with such amount of money at present. Consequently, they try to reduce money for daily meals, even they don't have breakfast. Therefore. it affects a lot to their heath. They have to work for about 5 hours from 5 p.m to 11 p.m in the evening. It is not easy to earn money. Sometimes they fell tired and when they come back home, they just want to sleep. As a result, the pressure of high inflation makes students distract their studying. After tiring hours, they can not concentrate on lessons at university. Some students focusing on earning money drop school because their result of studying is too bad. The pressure of money in the context of inflation makes them neglect their principle responsibility. Because of the impact of high inflation, students are losing their future for a good job.

The world today faces many problems despite the fact that it has taken long strides in science, technology and knowledge. One such problem is overpopulation , especially in developing countries. The population is growing so fast. Researchers predict that the population of the world will be 9.1 billions by the year of 2050. In many countries, it is the pressure of having a boy that causes the birthrate to increase. China is a specific example of this case.Chinese consider that every family should have at least one boy. Because of this way of thinking, in the last few years the birthrate in China set a record speed . However , thanks to one- child family policy that China's birthrate decreased. The uncontroled growth of population leads to the problems of housing and sanitation. In many countries the slums rae a sore to the eyes. Slums grow around the big cities and are found with all the drawbacks. These are the areas of diseases, poverty and crime. Besides, the unemployment is becoming the hot issue which is caused by the overpopulation. Even in such a developed coutry like the USA, every year the number of unemployees are increasing. Perhaps, the overpopulation is also the burden of the economy.
Secondly, the illiteracy and the limited access to modern media such as TV, newspaper... are the main causes leading to the growth of population. In some poor countries, people hardly know how to read or write so they do not have knowledge of taking care of their health. In Africa, the women are almost illiterate. They do not know the way to contracept. Most women give birth uncontroledly. Even there are women who do not know they are having baby until they give birth to a child. Therefore, the growth of population is an inevitable problem in Africa. Furthermore, media such as Tv , newspaper are the most effective way to reduce the growth of population. However, in many countries , the access to modern trchnology is limited. In poor countries, people do not have any TV in their family. They are not educated about family planning and taking care of their health, especialy women. So the population of the world is increasing every day. As a result, when every family has about five children , almost children are not gone to school and surely they will grow up in unhealthy living conditions. Children in the remote areas don't even have enough clothes to wear , so how ca they go to school? And the dark of poverty and illiteracy is still covering from this generation to the next one. Besides, the overpopulation affects on our environment seriously. As a result of the growth of population, people destroy the forest to build houses. Now the area of the forests is deceasing. And storms every year that take away the lives of thousands of people are the effects of the overpopulation. If we do not have any solutions to prevent the speed of the growth, in about 50 years human being will face to the shortage of food , clean water and energy.
Nowadays, people have realized the dangers of overpopulation . Every country is caught up with this problem and population growth control has become an economic necessity.

ESSAY COMPARISION AND CONTRAST
Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City are the big cities in Viet Nam. Ha Noi is in the North of the country and Ho Chi Minh City is in the South. In spite of the distance between them, both of the cities have some similarities about the landscapes and people. Besides, there are also the differences between two cities.
The first similarity is that both of them are the important cutural and economic centers of Viet Nam. They are two of the biggest cities in the country. Ha Noi is considered as the cultural and politic center of the country because of its historic tradition. It is also the capital of the country.Therefore, every year, there are a lot of festivals and summit conferences organized here. Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City is the biggest commercial center of Viet Nam. This city attracted the investments from the foreign countries. Both Ha Noi and Ho Chi minh City keep an important role in the economy of the country. Furthermore, people in two places are very friendly. Most foreign visitors traveling to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City love people here because of their friendliness and hospitality. One more similarity is that Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City have lots of famous landscapes. Anyone who used to visit Ha Noi would not forget the famous places such as Hoan Kiem Lake, Dong Xuan Market and HO Chi Minh President's Temple. Like Ha Noi. Ho Chi minh City has its pride.It is known with the famous places like Nha Rong Habour, Ben Thanh Market...
Despite their similarities, Ha Noi are also different from Ho Chi Minh City in some aspects. Firstly, Ha Noi brings an ancient beaty. Maybe Ha Noi becomes ancient because of the old streets. It has thirty -six streets and every street sells a different kind of goods. For example, coming Hang Than Street, we can buy Lang Vong Green rice flake cake and some special kinds of cake. Besides, along streets in Ha Noi are Milk flower trees. It is a specific characteristic only in Ha Noi. The old buildings with the red brick roofs or the moss- grown walls also make Ha Noi become ancient. Unlike Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh CIty has a modern and active beaty. There is not any houses with the red brick roofs, only have the high buildings. And most the buildings are affected by Western architecture. Also, there are not old streets in Ho Chi Minh City. Instead of, it has the large highways. Perhaps ,Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City have a different beaty. Moreover, Ha Noi is in the North , so it has 4 seasons: the spring , the summer, the Autumn, and the winter, while it only has 2 seasons in Ho Chi Minh City. They are rainy season and sunny season. One more difference is that the speed of living in Ha Noi is slower than life in Ho Chi Minh City. Ha Noi people can wait in line for an half of hour to buy an Trang Tien ice- cream. In spite of the busy life , Ha Noi people still keep the traditional culture of Trang An people. They like the family meals together. However, Sai Gon people are different.They are always busy with their work. It seems that they are always in a hurry. Every day, looking at the stream of traffic on Sai GOn streets, we will know the speed of living here. Perhaps because of a busy life, Sai Gon people are used to eating outside. They do not have enough time to cook at home.These are difference between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
My hometown is near Ha Noi and I moved to Ho Chi Minh City for ten years. Therefore, two places are familiar with me.I love the peaceful life in Ha Noi and I also love the bustling life in Go Chi Minh City. Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City are always in my heart.
